This week we are featuring 2024 President-Elect, Jason Schmidt, a Realtor® member since 2008. Prior to being elected Vice President, Jason served on the Board of Directors and the (MLS) Broker Council, starting in 2015, and was chairman of the Broker Council in 2017. In addition, he currently serves on the Golf Committee (founded in 2021) and has been a part of the Leadership Committee (formerly the Pro Standards Committee) since 2019.
When asked what made him decide to get involved in BMBOR Leadership, he responded with wanting to grow his value as a Realtor®.
He wanted to learn more and understand the processes that go into making decisions for our membership. He also wanted to expand his knowledge on issues affecting our industry and be able to provide more value as a Realtor® Member.
As a member of the Board, the one thing that surprised Jason about other members was their commitment to their real estate business and the Bismarck Mandan Board of Realtors®.
Jason shared that through his leadership roles, he has learned more patience, the value of other viewpoints, and an overall better understanding of how external issues at both the national and local levels affect real estate.
As a member of the Board, he has benefited not only professionally, but personally as well. He stated he has gained new friendships and expanded his professional network. He feels more educated as a Realtor and able to serve his clients better. He shared how he feels a better sense of community with other Realtor® Members at both the local and state level.
Jason’s advice when going into a leadership position “Go in with an open mind; plan to absorb and learn the processes. Do your best to learn and retain as there is a lot of really good stuff.”
In addition to serving on the BMBOR Board and committees, Jason serves on the boards for Pride, Inc., Bismarck Sertoma Club, Fort Abraham Lincoln Foundation along with serving on the Bismarck Public Schools Business/Marketing Advisory Committee.
