Leadership Spotlight

Leadership Spotlight Mary

This week we are featuring our current Board President, Mary Ohlhauser.

Mary celebrated her 10th Realtor® Anniversary in May of this year.

Before serving as BMBOR President, Mary served a three-year term as Director before choosing to run and being elected as Vice President and then moving into President-Elect, and now her current role as President.

She also serves on the Leadership (Nominating) and By-Laws Committees for BMBOR and the ROTY and Communication Committees for NDAR.

When asked what made her decide to pursue a leadership position with the Bismarck Mandan Board of Realtors, Mary stated that her broker encouraged her to run. Mary’s first-time running was as a candidate in a director’s position, which she held for three years before running for Vice President.

Mary stated that what surprised her the most when she started serving on the Board was the commitment to leadership and the level of involvement required as a leader. She went on to share that “there is a lot of work that goes into the decisions made and things that are done at the Board Level”.

Mary’s greatest takeaway from her experience has been giving members a voice. Realizing that it’s not all about me and we need to take into consideration what or how something may change things for an entire membership, not just one person. Mary stated, “As a large membership we are well represented and the pride we take in what we do as a Realtor® Member is priceless.”

Mary went on to say that serving as President and being in leadership has not only made her a better person but a better Realtor®. The things she has learned and the experience she has gained in leadership have only made her better at serving her clients. She encourages anyone interested in leadership to take the next step; whether that be on a committee or running for Director, it is worth giving it a shot.

In addition to serving as the 2024 Bismarck Mandan Board or Realtor® current President, Mary served on the St. Anne’s Catholic Church Board of Directors and is the Secretary/Treasurer of the Lake Isabel Association.
