Our Leadership feature this week is Beth Posey. Beth has been a Realtor ® for 14 years and this is her first year serving on the Board of Directors. In addition to serving on the Board, Beth has been Chair of the Program Committee, served on the Grievance Committee, and Chair of the Broker Council for BMBOR. She also is a member of the State Forms Committee, served on the NDAR Technology Committee, and member of the GNMLS Board of Directors.
When asked what made her decide to get involved in leadership, she stated that her Broker at the time, John Van Middlesworth, encouraged her to start at the committee level. She said that she was looking for a better understanding of how and why things are done, prompting her to take the next step.
Beth continued that serving has been a good learning experience. Having an open mind and being willing to listen and open to discussion has benefited her greatly. She has a better understanding of our Board and how decisions are made and has gained good insight into what is going on at the National level and how that affects us at the local level.
Beth went on to share that serving has benefited her personally and professionally. She has been able to build better relationships with other professionals as well as sharpen her leadership skills. Serving on the Board has been an overall good experience.
When asked if she had any advice for those considering a leadership role she stated, “Do it!! Don’t be afraid to try.” She recommended that you be open-minded. She continued that you should be giving back to your organization. You are a member, and you have a voice, it is your opportunity to be heard.
In addition to serving on the local and state Realtor Boards, Beth is also on the Board of Directors for the Bismarck Rotary Club.
